Animal Rights

Yepp. STOP animal abuse. animals do not deserve to be treated like that.

imagine people hitting you with sticks and stones or simply mistreating you.

how would you feel?

well, animals have feelings too.

they had also saved people's lives before.

so please treat animals like your friends and family members!

Veggie Tales!

today for sec 1 assembly we had it in the hall (:and we watched veggie tales! :Dveggie tales is awesome and cute (: i remember it...i watched it when i was young x)my brother is a total fan of it :Danyway, we watched 2 animations for today's assembly :Dthe first one is to teach us perseverance.very nicee!

If I could keep any pet i want...

if i could have any pet i want, what could it be?well, here i can definitely tell you that it is not any current pet i own (:so, that rules out hamsters, guinea pigs, fish, lobsters [:the pet that i want... it is very expensive itself.it is also very expensive to keep.however, it is SUPER CUTE like a fluffy squishy ball :Dit also can stand on your shoulder :Dthe cheapest is.... hmm one time i went to a pet shop it sold this pet for cheapest $700 :/most expensive $4000 D:i'll go bankrupt.that's why i cannot keep it as a pet ):okay, after i gave out so many clues, have you guessed which pet it is? :DDDit is....a.....CHINCHILLAAA~ <3chinchillas are simply awshum <3do you know what a chinchilla is? it is a squirrel-like animal that is vvvvv CUTE :Dbefore you go and google image it, i shall put some photos of chinchillas here :D

omg. -faints from cuteness overload- okay, now i will tell you why chinchillas are expensive (:chinchillas are something like squirrels, so they like to jump about.thus, they need a BIGGG cage (:and yes, chinchillas are quite unique pets.they need to live in temperatures UNDER 25 degrees.so, you have to switch on the air-con, like, all day long?cause singapore is vvv hot :/it may give a chinchilla heart attack.saddd ):so thats why i cant keep a chinchilla ):but still, chinchillas rule ^^

AEP Excursion to SAM Museum (Liu Kang: A Centennial Celebration)

hahaha. this friday i went for an AEP excursion to SAM museum to view Liu Kang's exhibition.

CCA♥NYSJ♥

well, if you are wondering what nysj stands for , it is nanyang st. john ambulance brigade :D
CCA is funnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn :DDDD

it is like, the only thing that makes going to school funnnnnnnnnnnnn (:without CCAs, life in school will be extremely miserable and amazingly boring. i ♥ my main CCA :Dit is the definition of awesomely awesome.but the thing that really makes me like CCA is not the CCA itself, it is my batchmates and seniors♥. i remember in primary school, i had a lot of CCAs.in primary 1, i joined String Ensemble. in primary 2, i joined Art Club but i quitted, like 2 weeks later cause i found it to be soooooo boring.in primary 3, i joined a Chinese Reading Club (:in primary 4, i joined Environmental Club (:it is quite slack xD but it is also funnnnnnnnn.in primary 6, i joined Badminton Club [:i ♥ badminton :D it is my favourite sport.um, running long distance too ^^from primary 1 to 6 i didn't quit String Ensemble (: it is my most dedicated CCA.i also joined, in Primary 5, Scouts xDbut it is not the Scouts in my school, it is outside (:but anyway, all those CCAs still cannot defeat the awesome NYSJ(:even my second CCA (currently) xPi'm not really saying that NYSJ is the best CCA in the whole in NYGH, it is just the best in my heart (:i remember during NYGH open house, on one of the school tours that i was leading with my senior, a parent asked me what is the most popular CCA in nanyang.how would you answer?i said that: "it cannot really be compared, because each CCA can only take in a limited number of students thus the number of students that go to that CCA will be different, and it is unfair if you judge by the number of students that each CCA has"how was my answer? >.<i think....it is okay(:cause it would be bias if i say NYSJ xDhee.

Class CIP

yesterday i had class cip (community involvement programme) (:our class (101) and some other students from 108 and 111 went with us to silver centre to entertain the old folks there (:according to ms yap, the old folks there were residents of the hdb flats, and they come down to that small area in the afternoon to get some company or play with the other old folks (:our class bought sandwiches, cereal, coffee and biscuits to give the old folks as food.we also prepared games such as art and craft and pass-the-parcel.firstly, when we reached the silver centre, the band and chinese orchestra members of our class played the school song (xD) and 月亮代表我的心.one old folk was very enthusiastic and she sang along with us!i was the "music stand".there were no REAL music stands, so i had to squat on the floor while holding up the music scores for my classmates to see for the whole song.sigh, i can tell you that it was SUPER tiring, and i nearly had cramps from puttting my whole weight on one leg :/next, we got all the old folks to sit around in a circle, while we have to choose an old folk and stand beside him/her, be his/her buddy (:if the parcel is passed to the old folk that is our buddy, we have to do a forfeit. not the old folks.i danced gee (to accompany my classmates) and did 20 pumpings as forfeits >.<actually i was not supposed to do that but i just want to accompany my other classmates (:to tell the truth, the music played for the pass-the-parcel was quite soft, i guess we have to improve on that.next was eating time (:as i ate only the sandwich from the sandwich machine for lunch, i was vvvvvvvvvvvv hungry :/furthermore, i had to distribute sandwiches to the old folks, and the sandwiches were SO tempting. i really want to steal one and gobble it up (:next was art and craft (:we made some foam stamps and the old folks were supposed to choose a stamp they liked and stamp it on their piece of colour paper (:but i wasn't really enthusiastic as before, cause i am SUPER hungry.._.and finally, it was time to go back (:the bus journey took about 20 minutes, and they were a torture. SO HUNGRY.luckily i had some sweets, i totally gobbled them up like they were my means of surviving (:when we reached school, i chiongedddd to the canteen and bought some snacks haha.on the way, i was arguing with valerie who will die of hunger first hee.cip was fun (:BUTlesson learnt: never eat sandwiches as lunch ever again.

Animal Heroes

i just read some true stories of amazing animal heroes (:some of them were pretty sad :'(first true story: Hero Dog in Chile: Dog saves Dog on Highwaylink: http://pinkdaisy.hubpages.com/hub/animal-herovideo:

so sad ): the critically injured dog died afterwards :'(here is a small article on it:

A homeless dog in Chile has performed a selfless act of animal heroism. A street dog from Chile made international headlines when he risked his life to pull an injured dog off a busy highway. The hero dog bravely dodged traffic in order to drag his injured friend to the side of the road. A traffic camera caught the amazing heroic act on tape.

After watching the YouTube video, many people are searching Google wondering what happened to the critically injured dog on the highway - did the injured dog live? Chilean Officials have stated that the injured dog has sadly died. The incident happened in March, and police have given up on their search for the hero dog who tried to save his friend's life. This is truly one of the most amazing heroic animal stories I have ever seen.

Lulu knew that Joann was in trouble and ran out of the house. The pig laid down in the middle of the street and stopped all traffic. Lulu tried relentlessly to get help. Lulu would return to the house to check on JoAnn, and then return to the street searching for someone to help. Finally, someone noticed Lulu and followed her to the door. JoAnn was rushed to the hospital and she survived. Without Lulu's help, JoAnn might not be here today. Lulu the potbellied pig is a well known animal hero.

The SPCA investigated these two exhibitions on Thursday (20 January 2011) and found the conditions to be unacceptable. At Suntec, some of the rabbits were kept in very small cages while the flooring of all their enclosures was not suitable (wire flooring). At Harbourfront, while our Inspector was there, the rabbits were clearly very stressed as they were continually touched by members of the public. Although there are signs advising the public not to touch the animals, this was not enforced.

We have voiced our strong objection regarding the set up of the exhibitions to the AVA (the government authority which issues licenses for the exhibition of animals). We will be following up closely to ensure conditions are improved.

The SPCA has received several complaints with regards to this issue and would like to thank concerned members of the public for their feedback. If you observe any further welfare issues at these exhibitions, please take pictures or videos (without flash) if possible and send them to depinspector@spca.org.sg If the situation warrants immediate attention call 6287 5355 ext 9.

The SPCA had written in to AVA earlier this week to put a stop to the planned rabbit races and dress up contests organised by Pets Village in Suntec City Tropics Atrium on the grounds that rabbits are timid animals and can easily suffer from shock or stress. We requested that the promotion be stopped before any animals suffer unnecessarily or die in the process.

yupp. so sad ): poor rabbits and bunnies ):rabbits are stressed easily D: so we must not make them more stressed, such as letting them wear clothes!!extract from STOMP article about dressing rabbits:

SPCA says that racing and dressing up rabbits could cause extreme stress and may even lead to death for the animals.

The association is responding to a posting in STOMP, which highlighted STOMPer Jacelyn's concerns over rabbit races and dress-up contests organised by pet stores this Chinese New Year, saying that it is a form of animal abuse.

An SPCA spokesperson said:

"The SPCA refers to the posting 'Racing rabbits and dressing them up is animal abuse, says animal shelter volunteer'. "We agree with Stomper Jacelyn that promotions such as the one being organised by Pets Village in Suntec City Tropics Atrium this month, could cause extreme stress to the rabbits.

"Dressing up rabbits in clothing could constrict their movement, and make the animals panic. Panic could even cause them to go into shock and die.

"Rabbits are indeed fragile creatures, and prone to suffering from stress. Forcing them to race in a crowded and noisy environment will definitely cause them stress and it would be better to refrain from organising such activities.

"We are entering into the Year of the Rabbit. Let's make it a happy year for them, not a stressful one."

so sadddddddd ): poor rabbits.yepp, do not buy rabbits on impulse (: if you want to take care of them, you have to take care of them for a lifetime. so, please be a responsible rabbit owner (:rabbits can live up to 10 years (: so you must be responsible, DO NOT abandon them when you do not want to take care of them anymore!!!!STOP ANIMAL ABUSE.animals have feelings too(:

Roborovski Hamsters!

this is bubbles(: a white-faced roborovski male hamster that i adopted:D

because i adopted it from a person and that person bought it from the pet shop thus i do not know his age :/

but anyway. i don't care x)

now let me introduce to you what roborovski hamsters are (:

they are the smallest and most hyper of all type of hamsters:D a picture:

^^^^^^ that is also bubbles:D

okay so, since roborovski hamsters are the most hyper, they are also the hardest to tame :/

and they run super super super fast. and since they are small, it is even harder to catch them!

and oh yes just because they are small and active and wont stay on your hand DO NOT squeeze them when holding them D: you'll suffocate them! that's why you should start taming (i know it's hard) your roborovski(:

Brownie

this is my cousins' dog, Brownie(:

well of course not mine, my mum does not allow dogs :/

hmm but anyway, one interesting and disgusting incident happened to me when i was...hmm maybe 9 years old? i went to my cousins' house, which is a TERRACE HOUSE!!!!!!

it was SO COOL. 4 storeys :O

anyway, when i was 9 i went to their house to play with my brother.

p.s. the boy in the photo with the dog is my brother xD

Brownie was in the 3rd level room, he wasnt let out because at that time he was still a teeny weeny puppy(:

i was wearing a dress at that time (p.s. i hate dresses i was forced to wear it -.-)

and when i went into the room, i sat down on the floor, and

guess what.

there was dog urine on the floor!

okay, so now my dress is wet and stinky with Brownie's urine. -.-

ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

i tried to get the urine stink off but i failed D:

so for the whole day, i stank of dog urine.

how nice ._.

anyway, now that Brownie is toilet-trained, he is much much much much much much much more better(:

i just hope that next time when i go over he wouldnt chase me all over the house. D:

hmm okay now i shall talk about the national day parade.

so, as i posted as my status, you can get a much much much more clearer and nearer view if you watch ndp from tv. that's one advantage of not watching ndp live!

hehheh. thats a fact (Y). yeah, and you can have the comfort of your sofa if you watch at home too!

and somehow, i was quite interested in the ndp! o.o

i think its because i joined uniformed group cca:D

i was like looking for st john people and then nearly mistook airforce ppl as sj ppl! their uniform vvvv similar :O really!

so now i am interested in the ndp parade. XD. last time i will get so bored during parade that i would play handphone games! or just talk to my friends.

today i received my block test 2 physics and chinese results. ._.

saddened.

Great Ruler

today during history block test 2, an essay qns was abt han wu di was considered a great ruler etc etc and when i saw the word 'ruler' i immediately thought of the stationery ruler so i almost laughedXD

and oh yes, for that qns, kesia wrote that because han wu di was fat that's why he was considered a great ruler LOL! because mrs ng told us that rich powerful people are usually fat. dot.

okay, so i think today everyone is very happy because block tests are over...
